My topic is equality. I decided to not only have a topic about equality as a whole, but to get further into detail with what I believe are three of the most important sub topics that should have equality: race, religion and gender. These are important to me because as a millennial, I noticed that the world doesn’t get nicer over the years. In fact, it's quite the opposite. We still have people today facing prejudice and inequality every single day. If we learn from our past in history, for example; treatment of slaves or inequalities of women, then why haven’t we grown as a society? Why are there still people that are racist, sexist, homophobic or prejudice? I wanted to create a poster that would show that we are all the same despite what the world wants to label us as. We would have a much more equal and safer place to live in if we all would push our differences aside. My audience will get the message by looking at a poster with different elements that describe what we as people should have: equality.
I chose to put my thoughts and ideas on a poster because I wanted to include pictures and put pieces together such as the world and a bunch of hands of different color together. I wanted my audience to notice that we are all the same underneath labels. By using a poster, it will catch peoples eyes using bright colors and pictures. Most people like to look at pictures because it captures their attention more and it's easier if they're in a busy school area, like where my poster is going to be displayed.
I used gradient background on my poster in bright colors to draw attention because my topic is something that we should all give our attention to and become better people by learning about how we can all better ourselves in the topic of equality. I organized my creation by having different sizes of pictures. I also blended pictures together to create one. I included an interesting picture of puzzle pieces as a background for the word “equality” because its most likely what people notice first. It's the biggest on the poster and most eye catching. Also, most people recognize the puzzle pieces as an autism awareness symbol symbol.
I organized my creation by having different skeletons that are all standing next to each other in a line,  having a different label on them such as; gay, religious, atheist, black and white labeled on them in the colors that represent them as people. For example I put the word “gay” in rainbow because it's something the LGBT community should be proud of. I used skeletons because all of our skeletons look the same inside of us and none of us are superior than each other. I use the variety in my pictures by having different symbols of groups of people that should be treated equal.  I changed the sizes of pictures as well.  I also have a picture of a scale that would usually be used for food, and I put the symbols of men and women, and the scale is equal because men and women should be equal. I also have a picture of the world in a picture of people’s hands of different colors because we, as the United States are known as being a mixing pot of different color. Without the different races, we wouldn’t be where we are today in history. Different colors bring us together and we should not discriminate against them.  I also have the word equality in a rainbow gradient because the rainbow is known for being a symbol of the LGBT community which is hated against and treated unfairly still.  Behind that are the puzzle pieces, known for being a symbol for autism awareness, which needs equality because people treat them unfairly, when they are people too.
